Understanding Treatment Intensity

Addiction treatment isn't one-size-fits-all. Different levels of care provide varying intensities of support, and understanding these options helps you make informed decisions.

Detoxification (Detox)

Medical detox provides 24/7 supervision during withdrawal. This is typically the first step for those with physical dependence on substances.

Residential Treatment

Residential or inpatient treatment provides immersive, round-the-clock care in a structured environment. Typical stays range from 30-90 days.

Partial Hospitalization (PHP)

PHP provides intensive treatment during the day while allowing clients to return home in the evenings. Usually 5-7 days per week, 6+ hours daily.

Intensive Outpatient (IOP)

IOP offers structured treatment while maintaining daily responsibilities. Typically 3-5 days per week, 3-4 hours per session.

Outpatient Treatment

The least intensive option, outpatient care provides ongoing support through weekly or bi-weekly sessions.
